The mission of Washington Elementary School is to provide
our students with the skills necessary for success in the
twenty-first century.
We will achieve this by becoming a family-centered facility
where all members of the community work together for the betterment
of the children. Parents and other interested community members
will be welcomed and encouraged to actively participate as
members of our learning community.
We will provide a variety of programs and experiences for
our students, addressing different learning styles and recognizing
individual strengths and weaknesses. We will offer a balance
between structured education and opportunities for the development
of cooperative skills. Emphasis will be placed on the development
of good reading, writing and math skills. Small group interaction
will be utilized as a positive learning experience which will
inspire students to develop pride in sharing their knowledge
and opinions. The ability to reason, communicate and work
together to evaluate information will be stressed as a necessary
tool for the future growth as members of a democratic society.
Our school will support the concept that learning should
be interactive and student centered. We hope that when one
enters our school, you will see happy children and staff members
busily engaged in the learning process.
We envision a time that all Washington children are attending school in a safe, nurturing place that is the center of our learning community. Our school will allow all children to master the skills essential for success in life. Parents and community members will actively participate in the life of the school and feel welcomed. Our school district will evolve by adapting the facilities, staff and resources necessary to meet the changing needs of our students and community.
